THE BIG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2014 - 28TH SEPTEMBER 2014

28 Sep 2014

We turned up to the tournament as Champions, hungry to retain our title. With a tough and long group structure, we surprised others again this year winning all eight games going into the knock out stages. We were now the team to beat, the team everyone feared. After cruising to the quarters and easing past the successful London team into the Semi Final, we had only let in 1 goal all tournament which was in the first game. Our goalie Hussain could have taken a deck chair with him he had that little to do. Goals from us were flying in from all angles. We may not have had the Golden Boot on our team but when we had the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th top goal scorers, and easily the top assister in Ilyas with over 30 assists, we thought this tournament was ours. We had never played so well.
Unfortunately when we faced the eventual Champions Nottingham they decided to take a page from Jose Mourinho's management book and park the bus. As much as we attacked our tired legs couldn't break them down. We did have the chances but unfortunately didn't put them away. The match was a 0-0 draw and they beat us on penalties. Congratulations Nottingham.
